18 New AI Models on Ropewalk (Sep 2026): GPT-6, Opus 5.5
By the Ropewalk AI Team. Published September 25, 2026, covering every public model release on Ropewalk between August 28 and September 25, 2026.
Between August 28 and September 25, 2026, Ropewalk added 18 new models to the catalog — the platform's biggest four-week release window of 2026 so far. Three company-defining flagships from OpenAI, Anthropic and xAI, a synced-audio video model that already tops human-preference leaderboards, and seven new Tripo models that turn 3D object generation into a real Ropewalk category: here's what shipped, sorted by what each model is actually good for.
18 Models, Four Weeks: What Shipped and Why It Matters
The four-week window breaks down into three waves: 8 text models (three GPT-6 tiers, two Claude 5.5-generation models, Grok 4.7, Hunyuan Hy4 Preview and Qwen3.8 Omni Flash), 3 video models (MiniMax H3 Max and its image-to-video and lip-sync variants), and 7 three-dimensional models (the full Tripo 2.5, H3.1 and P1 lineups). That 3D wave alone is the largest single-category expansion Ropewalk has shipped in 2026 — object generation goes from a one-model afterthought to a seven-model category with distinct low-poly and high-detail tracks.
The headline release is GPT-6, OpenAI's first generation above the GPT-5.6 family, landing in three tiers (Astra, Sol, Luna) the same week Anthropic shipped Claude Opus 5.5 and xAI reached general availability with Grok 4.7. On the media side, MiniMax H3 Max is the first video model on Ropewalk with native synchronized audio baked into generation — no separate voice pass — and it currently ranks #1 in human-preference evaluations for overall quality, prompt understanding and aesthetics.

GPT-6 Astra
GPT-6 Astra is OpenAI's flagship in the new GPT-6 family, released September 2026 as the generation above GPT-5.6. It's built for the heaviest reasoning and coding workloads on Ropewalk — the tier to reach for when GPT-6 Sol or Luna start missing detail on multi-step tasks. Costing per reply, it sits in the same price bracket as Claude Opus 5.5, so the practical choice between the two usually comes down to house style rather than budget.
Claude Opus 5.5
Claude Opus 5.5 is Anthropic's newest flagship, and the vendor's own benchmarks put it ahead of Claude Fable 5.1 on agentic tasks at roughly 60% lower API cost — a rare case of a new tier beating the previous flagship on both quality and price at once. Like Fable 5.1, it ships with a 1M-token context window by default, so long documents, full repos or multi-file diffs fit in a single call. On Ropewalk it costs per reply, tying GPT-6 Astra, which makes the two the natural first comparison for anyone choosing a new default model this month.
Six more text models rounded out the wave. Claude Fable 5.1 (/reply) remains Anthropic's previous-generation flagship, still the pick for the most demanding long-horizon agentic work until Opus 5.5's edge is confirmed at scale. GPT-6 Sol (/reply) is OpenAI's mid-tier successor to GPT-5.6 Sol, priced for everyday chat and drafting. GPT-6 Luna (/reply) is the new budget floor, recently price-cut upstream — cheap enough to run as a default for high-volume, low-stakes tasks. Grok 4.7 reached general availability in September 2026 as xAI's current flagship for coding and knowledge work, with a 500K-token context window and text-plus-image input. Hunyuan Hy4 Preview is Tencent's newest LLM tier, a 1M-token context model with switchable reasoning depth. Qwen3.8 Omni Flash is Alibaba's first Qwen model built around agentic tool use with native omni-modal audio-video understanding on top of a 1M-token context window.
Video: MiniMax H3 Max Brings Native Synced Audio
MiniMax H3 Max is a post-trained build of MiniMax H3 that generates 5–15 second video clips with audio synchronized natively inside generation, not stitched on afterward. It currently ranks #1 in human-preference evaluations for overall quality, prompt understanding and aesthetics, and renders a 5-second clip in roughly 3 seconds of model wall time. Resolution options run 480p up to 768p, and duration is adjustable from 5 to 15 seconds — the demo below used 768p at 5 seconds, at for the generation.
We generated the clip above on September 25, 2026, from a single text prompt at MiniMax H3 Max's default 768p/5-second settings — no separate audio pass, no sync step, guitar audio and ambient city sound landed in the same file as the video. That's the model's whole pitch in one generation.
Two variants shipped alongside the base model. MiniMax H3 Max I2V animates a still image into a 5–15 second clip with the same native synced audio, can optionally interpolate to a supplied end frame, and follows the input image's aspect ratio — it currently ranks #1 on the Design Arena image-to-video leaderboard. MiniMax H3 Max Lip Sync turns one photo plus one audio clip into a lip-synced talking video with natural expression and head movement in any language; output length matches the audio (5–14.8 seconds) and it posts a median generation time of roughly 11 seconds in fal's lip-sync evaluations.
3D: Seven New Tripo Models Turn Object Generation Into a Real Category
Seven Tripo models shipped across three generations — 2.5, H3.1 and P1 — each covering a different input path (text, single image, or up to four multiview images) and a different output philosophy: engine-ready low-poly versus production-detail high-poly.
Tripo H3.1 — the detail tier
Tripo H3.1 is Tripo's high-detail generation line: text, a single image, or 2–4 multiview images in, a production-ready mesh with PBR textures out. Its "Detailed" geometry mode preserves cloth folds, armor edges and fine surface features at up to roughly 2 million faces — built for hero assets, cinematic close-ups and 3D printing rather than real-time engines. Text-to-3D is the cheapest entry point at per generation; the image and multiview routes cost each.
The Tripo 2.5 line covers the same image and multiview paths at a flat per generation, and is the proven predecessor generation — image-to-3D turns a single photo into a textured mesh with optional PBR materials and quad topology, while multiview-to-3D uses up to four angles (front required, left/back/right optional) for meaningfully better back-side and silhouette accuracy than a single photo can give.
At the other end of the detail spectrum, Tripo P1 generates clean, engine-ready low-poly meshes with stable topology in seconds, from either text or a single image, at per generation — built for Unity/Unreal, web viewers and real-time pipelines rather than hero-asset detail.
